Woolgoolga
We left Ruth’s place at Nambucca shortly before 1pm. We did not have far to go to Woolgoolga. Ruth advised us that trying to go through Coffs Harbour on a Saturday morning was a nightmare so it made good sense to leave our departure till later. It also gave us the opportunity to have a relaxed breakfast and visit to the gym/shopping etc and extend the visit with Ruth. So we arrived at 2pm and set up. It is a nice spot, right on the beach. There is an inlet at the corner of the van park.Looks better at high tide.
It was a rendezvous with Jan and Ross, ie Linda’s sister and brother-n-law. They were on a trip as well and starting to head south. We were heading north still and the timing was excellent. We certainly had never seen Woolgoolga before, ie anything beyond what you could see from the highway. We have done quite a bit of caravanning with them now.
After setup and lunch we took a drive to the headland where there were great views.
That night there were huge winds with 50kph gusts and people were pulling their awnings down all through the night. We met some extra neighbours that night, helped them pull their awning down. We had already met our next door neighbours, Mark and Rhonda. Very nice people and we had a couple of happy hours with them and Jan & Ross. Did a great roast on the webber on the third night. But I am getting ahead of myself. We had booked in for two nights but on our second day we got a message, as did a few other guests, that we could stay a third night for $21. So we took them up on that offer. That suited us because we wanted to take a drive up the coast locally to check out the beaches and villages and we were planning to do it with the van on the back. If we did that we would not have seen everything. So we took a drive with Jan & Ross. We had got a tip about how nice Red Rock was. I was impressed with Red Rock, great place for a swim and a fish as well I would think.
So that night (the third night) was the roast on the webber and a good happy hour. Next morning though it was time to leave so we said our goodbyes and we headed for Yamba.
