Bonny Hills
We left Old Bar on Sunday the 15th November and went to the Bonny Hills Reflections Caravan Park (24km south of Port Macquarie). The NSW coast is very popular so we are finding that we need to book in once we are aware of where we want to go. We would still be able to find somewhere to stay but it may not be the preferred spot if we don’t book early enough. So having decided to go to Bonny Hills I rang up and booked a site but with only a days notice. There were no ocean front spots left but we were still able to get a spot with views of the ocean. It meant that we had to manouvre to have an ocean view.
These Reflections Caravan Parks do an amazing deal. Zero dollars to join and as a one off, you get a $25 discount when you spend $100 and every other visit you get 10% discount. So our Bonny Hills stay was $50 a night and with two nights we got a $25 discount. It made the lack of beach front view acceptable. The beach front view was $65 a night by the way, but as I said there were none available.
This van park is in an amazing location. Great views of the beach and ocean. I can’t remember who gave me that tip about this place but they were spot on.
After setting up and lunch we went down to the rocky part of the beach for a swim. By this stage I had already copped to much sun so we were just laying in the shade.
The next morning we took a drive to Lake Cathie mainly for shopping. It has a nice name but the location did not live up to it. I don’t know if we missed anything. In the afternoon I went for a good walk up to one of the (Bonny) Hills, down the other side, up another and down to the beach and back to camp. I am keen to keep fit on this trip so trying to do a lot of walking.
Upon returning Linda and I went down to the main beach side for a swim. The water was beautiful. The water temperature is amazingly comfortable. Back to camp for a relaxing night.
